Peer-led Social Support Networks and Digital Inclusion Project
This digital literacy project is designed to support men and women who are beginners in using technology, with a strong emphasis on promoting mental health and wellbeing.
Many adults face barriers to accessing the digital world—whether due to lack of experience, confidence, or support. This project creates a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can learn foundational IT skills at their own pace, without judgment.
The sessions cover basic computer and mobile device use, including how to navigate the internet, use email, connect through video calls, and access essential online services. By providing this practical knowledge, we aim to reduce digital exclusion and open up new opportunities for participants to stay informed, connected, and independent in their daily lives.Beyond technical skills, the project is rooted in the belief that digital inclusion is closely tied to mental health. Many people who are digitally excluded also experience isolation, anxiety, and a lack of confidence. By helping participants build digital confidence, we enable them to engage more fully with their communities, connect with loved ones, access mental health resources, and explore interests that bring joy and meaning. The impact of this project is both personal and social. Individuals gain not only new skills but also a sense of achievement, self-worth, and agency.
As participants grow more comfortable with technology, they are better equipped to manage daily tasks, apply for jobs, seek support, and maintain social connections—all of which contribute to improved mental wellbeing. In turn, this empowerment strengthens families and communities, creating a positive ripple effect that extends beyond the individual.Through this initiative, we are working to bridge the digital divide and ensure that everyone, regardless of background or experience, has the opportunity to thrive in today’s digital world.
