Friendship Café – Supporting Dementia-Friendly Community Connections

Looking for a warm, welcoming place to connect, relax, and enjoy meaningful time with others? The Friendship Café is here for you.

Designed especially for individuals living with dementia and their carers, our weekly sessions offer a supportive, dementia-friendly space where friendships can grow, stories can be shared, and new experiences can be enjoyed together.

What to expect:

🧠 Engaging Activities – From reminiscence sessions and music therapy to arts, crafts, and gentle movement, each activity is designed to stimulate the mind and uplift the spirit.

💬 Peer Support for Carers – A chance to connect with others who understand, share experiences, and receive guidance from professionals in a relaxed setting.

🌿 Dementia-Friendly Environment – With clear signage, accessible seating, and a dedicated sensory and well-being breakout room, everyone can feel at ease.

🤝 Intergenerational Connections – Local students and volunteers join us to help build a vibrant, inclusive community for all ages.

📍When & Where:
We run weekly 2-hour sessions over 12 months (48 sessions in total), welcoming 20–30 participants each time at The Hub in Bradford.

Whether you’re living with dementia or caring for someone who is, the Friendship Café offers a place to feel understood, valued, and connected.

Organisation Information

The Bradford City FC Community Foundation is a non-profit organisation and the official charitable arm of Bradford City Football Club. It is dedicated to inspiring and educating the local community through a range of inclusive programs focused on sports, education, health, and social inclusion. As a self-funded charity, the Foundation provides a safe and enjoyable environment that promotes personal development and community cohesion. Football and Multi-Sports Coaching – The Foundation delivers structured football and sports coaching for boys and girls of all abilities, aligning with the National Curriculum. These sessions run during term time and across various venues in the Bradford District, ensuring young people have opportunities to develop skills in a supportive setting. Holiday Coaching Camps – During school holidays, the Foundation hosts 2, 3, and 4-day coaching camps, offering football training, games, and engaging activities tailored to different age groups. Disability Clubs – The Foundation runs inclusive football and multi-sports sessions for individuals with disabilities, ensuring everyone can participate in a welcoming, adapted environment. These sessions take place every Friday evening and Sunday morning at Bradford College. School Partnerships & Competitions – Working with local schools, the Foundation provides term-time coaching, competitions, and fundraising events such as a six-week free coaching scheme with a penalty shoot-out challenge to help schools raise funds. Coach Education Courses – To support skill development within the community, the Foundation offers FA-accredited coaching courses, including Level I, II, and III coaching certifications, Child Protection, and Emergency First Aid training. Community Engagement & Social Inclusion – Beyond sports, the Foundation leads initiatives to support local communities, reduce isolation, and promote well-being. These include -  The Friendship Café – A dementia-friendly social space offering interactive activities, peer support, and hybrid sessions for those unable to attend in person. The Food Pantry – A low-cost food support initiative helping individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. Other Low-Cost Activities – The Foundation organises accessible health and well-being programmes, inclusive events, and targeted community support sessions to engage people from all backgrounds. Through these activities, the Bradford City FC Community Foundation continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals across Bradford, fostering a sense of belonging, supporting personal growth, and improving overall community well-being.
