The Bolton Woods Centre
offering a variety of activities tailored to the interests and needs of the elderly community, which have been co-produced with the participants.
These include:
- Bingo afternoons and warm spaces to provide opportunities for social interaction in a relaxed environment.
- Gardening group, encouraging light physical activity and connection with nature.
- Walks, exercise sessions, and bowling to promote physical activity and improve mobility.
- Cuppa and chat sessions, providing emotional support and companionship.
- Relaxation sessions to improve mental well-being and manage stress.
- Volunteering opportunities, helping individuals stay active by contributing to their community and building a sense of purpose.
- Arts and Crafts, making small craft items to sell at local fairs to support their project.
Through these varied activities, we aim to ensure that participants remain physically active, mentally engaged, and socially connected, all of which are critical to maintaining independence.
Our project directly addresses these issues by creating a hub where people can come together regularly, build friendships, and feel supported. We also emphasise intergenerational connection by involving local youth as volunteers, fostering a sense of community cohesion and mutual respect across generations.
